The coastal town of Seenigama was deeply affected by the 2004 tsunami. As one of the biggest natural disasters to hit the country, it left around 40,000 people dead and caused mass devastation. Almost everyone in this village lost someone or was otherwise affected by the tsunami. Yet, seven years on, people have found new opportunities, thanks to organisations like the Foundation Of Goodness. With their vision of creating sustainable communities through empowerment and education. The Foundation assisted locals, schools and businesses to get back on their feet. The Seenigama Wimala Buddhi Maha Vidyalya School was rebuilt and now provides education to many of the survivors in the area. Although people in Seenigama have suffered greatly, the students at this school appear genuinely happy despite what they have been through. The school is constantly in need of funding and donations.
